New short film: To be the One
A short urban fantasy about a man inexorably drawn to a confrontation. Written and directed by Matt McDonagh and featuring Oliver Chapman, it was filmed over 2 nights in January 2025.
The idea formed with the news that Chad Stahelski will be shooting a remake or reboot of The Highlander with Henry Cavill in the lead role, due to begin shooting in 2006.
With influences from Highlander, The Crow and many others peppered throughout, it is a feast of 80s and 90s nostalgia.
To be the One will premiere at the Rathmullan Film Festival
on Sunday 22 February, 4.30-6.15pm, at the community centre SVP.
It has also been entered into numerous film festivals internationally.
